Forgejo-aneksajo: (Meta)data Collaboration Platform

Forgejo-aneksajo is an open-source, self-hostable (meta)data collaboration platform that connects version-controlled data with people, workflows, and interoperable computational services.

Forgejo-aneksajo provides a self-hostable web-based environment for collaborating on data and software projects managed with Git, git-annex, and DataLad. Extending the Forgejo project with support for git-annex, it brings familiar software development workflows such as version control, issue tracking, access management, and automated workflows to projects working with large and distributed datasets. It is usable as a git remote for any tool that is Git and/or git-annex compatible, and it provides an API for programmatic interaction with many of its features. Because it does not impose a metadata schema, projects can integrate their own standards and workflows.

Within ABCD-J, Forgejo-aneksajo provides a collaborative infrastructure layer connecting research data, software, and workflows. It complements DataLad for data management and versioning and can serve as a shared platform for research projects and services built around the ABCD-J ecosystem. Forgejo-aneksajo is also being used within Research Centre Jülich research in areas including neuroscience and atmospheric science, demonstrating its applicability across different research domains.
